RTC client API and dashboards

I would like to customize the dashboard and widgets of the web interface through the client api.
Is there any documentation available about this?

Thanks

Thanks Ralph,

is there also a way to modify existing widgets? The reason why I am asking this is because the process template does not retain the query selected in a template. We currently have an automated project setup, and would like to have the dashboards in sync with the template.
The queries we are using in the template are shared queries, and these are retained in the template.
