Unable to install IM 1.6 on X86 Linux server

Hi,

   I am trying to install Installation Manager 1.6 on X86b Linux server, but I am getting an error as follows:

  JVM terminated. Error code=160.

  can you please tell me why it is not installing?

Hi Shruti,
There might be many root causes. Error log is a good point to start investigation. Please provide it for further investigation.

Hi Shruti,

I believe that your server is 64 bit but IM you are using is 32 bit. Could you confirm that?
I believe that you have the same issue as described here:
https://jazz.net/forum/questions/114938/ibm-installation-manager-163-and-162-could-not-be-installed-in-suse-11

  I have tried 64 bit IM also, but the same error is coming.

Shruti,
You might have a different issue for 32 bit and 64 bit. Please provide the log from the error on 64bit then. Also please try whether technote http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24033586 helps.

Hi Shruti,

In the past I have seen the same error while eclipse had problems to find the XULrunner of the environment.

Could you try to add in the install.ini under the /home/caio/Desktop/gaurav/rhapsody 8.0.5/disk1/im/installer.linux.gtk.x86_64/ the following entry:
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=<full_path_to_xulrunner_to_Use>
and then start the IM installation directly with "./install" and not with the launchpad.

This entry will force eclipse to use a specific XULRunner instead of  doing a lookup to find a registered XULRunner.
