How to provide limited access to some users in RTC (4.02)

I would like to provide access to some users to they access only some reports with read access (not able to edit work items in this report).

The Idea is these user can see just work items of a specific Team Area in a specific Status.

Is it possible? How can I do this.

create a role that provides no workitem save,
then add them to a team that can only access certain workitems because of the team area.

If you have category setting with [Restrict Category visibility] and/or
[Restrict Work Item Access], see the below help.

combined with Access Group feature, you can have good control on Work item access and visibility:

If you want to control the work item not to be editable by some users, then as Sam suggests, you can create a role and not providing the permission to edit the workitem to achieve that.
