Is there a doc with forum content escape codes?

there are multiple times when we want to post questions and copy in html or xml, and it completely freaks out the forum display and editor.  is there a doc somewhere that lists the supported escape/wrappers for this kind of content in forum topics?

I searched, and used google as well, but came up only with product info, not forum info..
