Usage of Rational Platform in Hardware development

I assume that the IBM Rational Platfrom is addressed specifically to Software Design.

In my experience is quite important to take care also of the new HW introduction and changes to manage it efficiently and to support Sofware new design.

As part of an NPI (New Product Introduction) organization I'm interested to know what is from IBM point of view the correct tool or tool Platform to be used to manage efficiently:

Non functional requirements
Product Substitution involving Hardware in Supply.
