RTC client 4.0.3 crash on FC19 when accessing product backlog / Plan Editor

Alan Hightower (111) | asked Sep 17 '13, 4:11 a.m.
On Fedora 19 on both eclipse 3.6 with the RTC 3.x client installed and eclipse 4.2 with the 4.0.3 client installed, I experience a JVM crash when attempting to open a SCRUM backlog with the eclipse Plan Editor view.

Most other RTC functions work fine.  Anyone experience a similar fault?

I am running into a similar problem. Turns out it is a defect in Eclipse 4.2 and is fixed in 4.3.

Hello,

for Eclipse 3.6 RTC 3.x | 4.x Combinations I used the following approach under Ubuntu/Fedora with success:
1. Download this xulrunner version http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/xulrunner/releases/1.9.0.15/runtimes/xulrunner-1.9.0.15.en-US.linux-i686.tar.bz2
2. Extract the files of the tarball to /opt/xulrunner
3. Modify the eclipse.ini -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=/opt/xulrunner
Best Regards,
René

Unfortunately that only works on 32 bit versions of RTC. The 64 bit of the 1.9.2 Xulrunner is not always reliable and frankly has poor HTML 5 support (if you are doing web development in RTC).

I just made a blog post on the topic with an alternative solution. I include steps to manually update the SWT included with RTC with the Webkit, class included in Eclipse 4.3. Works like a charm.

Hello Alan,

There were the users having the same issue. You can look at this post: https://jazz.net/forum/questions/58929/fedora-15-rsa-803-rtc-client-30ifix1.

Let us know if it helps for you.

If the tip from that post does not help you, I believe that the best idea to investigate it is creating PMR and delivering dump file:
/tmp/javacore.20130917.110803.9635.0002.txt
/tmp/core.20130917.110803.9635.0001.dmp

No luck.  I've tried overriding org.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath with firefox 3.6.38, xulrunner 3.6.25 and xulrunner 1.9.1.19.  I've also tried org.eclipse.swt.browser.UseWebKitGTK=true

Still crashing in the Plan Editor

Alan,
I believe that the best idea to investigate it is creating PMR and delivering dump and javacore file:
/tmp/javacore.20130917.110803.9635.0002.txt
/tmp/core.20130917.110803.9635.0001.dmp
We will look at this.
