showing work items in the plan

Mikael Norback (61185) | asked Jan 07 '09, 2:38 p.m.
We have a plan for our team, but often my team members have work items assigned to them that are categorized to be in a different team. Essentially, my team members sometimes are helping out other teams. But these work items don't show up in the team plan. Is there some way to work around that? What's the recommendation for this? Can I somehow create a plan for a group of people regardless of how the work items owned by them are categorized?

Hi Patrik,

plans are currently scoped per team area/iteration. So you can't create
an arbitrary plan listing work items form different teams. Here is what
I recommend:

- create team areas for the different teams and assign the team members
for them
- if a developer is a member of more than on team, specify via the user
editor how the working relationship is between the different team areas.
- create plans for the teams
- the team members see all there work items assigned to them in the My
work view as long as they are coming out of one project area.
