Mylyn 3.x and RTC...

It would be helpful to know what your customer is hoping to achieve
through Mylyn/RTC integration. It is possible that the features they
desire are already provided by RTC (e.g. integrated work item editing,
work scheduling, integration between SCM and work items). If it turns
out that there is specific functionality that is provided by Mylyn that
is not already provided by RTC, then you should enter an enhancement
request for the feature.

Hi... I'm the customer Peter speaks of.
As I see it, the main advantage of Mylyn is the layer it adds on normal eclipse views/dialogs. Activate a task and it reduces package explorer, navigator, class lookup (ctrl-shift-T), resource lookup (ctrl-shift-R), etc down to the things of interest. These things of interest are not only the files you modified for the task, but also those that you've look at, I believe even down to the method level. As time goes by, and you don't look at something it decays out of interest, etc.
It seems like a natural fit with RTC. I'd find it more interesting to have integration with Mylyn then for RTC to try and duplicate it's functionality. It's open source, so to embrace/extend would be awesome!

Jason,
Thanks for the info. It turns out that I have a version of the Mylyn
incubator that is compatible with Mylyn 3.x and RTC 1.0.1 that has
improved integration for Mylyn contexts (e.g. you can attach a context
to a work item) although it is still a bit rough around the edges.
Unfortunately, I haven't had the time to work out the details of getting
the code into the build. If you want to try it out, the easiest approach
is for you to log a work item against the Jazz Project Source Control
component. I should have time over the next few days to attach a version
of the incubator to the work item (i.e. I need to build/package it for
RTC 1.0.1).

Thanks.

It's not a high priority for us as we're just getting started with RTC, but would be nice for the future and I'll try out any build you can give me. Thanks!
