Can the Editor Prsentation be configured as to layout of fields to not have so much space between columns?
Either can the description field be made wider?
If not, then, the right column moved leftward? See screen-shot:

There are a number of predefined layouts that RTC will use to display your work item. Try them out and see what they look like. Check out the article on Work Item Editor Presentations for more details.
