Team Concert and 64 Bit OS Support?
Hi,
Need to highlight that Team Concert needs to support the major 64 Bit Operating Systems (Linux - RHEL, SLES, Windows, UNIX) Could someone clarify if there will be 64 bit platform support and which ones? Clients are moving to these environments. So I want to request we support them. Please add to this thread if you also require support for 64 bit platforms and state which ones. Thanks, Bal |

Bal,
Are you requesting this for the Team Concert server, Team Concert Client, or both? Also, what hardware architecture are you seeing the requests for on UNIX? Just trying to get a better understanding of this request. Regards, David Brauneis IBM Rational Build Forge Architecture & Development braju wrote: Hi, |
FWIW, I'm running the server right now on 64-bit AIX and it seems to be working fine.

Hi,
David I am requesting support for the Team Concert server to support 64 bit OS's. I have a large Rational client who uses HP UX but is starting to use SLES 64. So these are on my list but Windows server is also another one. Shawn mentions he is running it on AIX 64 bit - thanks for the update What I really want to make sure is that we offer official SUPPORT for popular 64 bit operating systems (AIX, HP UX, Solaris, RHEL, SLES and Windows Server) when Team Concert is officially released. Thanks, Bal |
Bal,
I was in way disputing the business value nor the need for official support but rather just trying to get a better understanding of what you are requesting. I would think that some of this support will be limited by the support provided by the underlying stack being used - commercial (WebSphere, DB2, SameTime, etc...) or open source (Tomcat, Derby, Jabber, etc...) - as well as Java support. Do you know what hardware architecture this client is using SLES on for 64 bit computing and/or which version of SLES? I might be able to provide some insights on the commercial stack because of prior experience in the WebSphere world :) I should also state that I do not have a role which allows for me to make any decisions about which platforms will be formally supported...
