Why is the HTML editor of this Forum, rendering the LESSER THAN character in texts?

If I write a post in this forum I get rendering problems if I'm using the LESSER THEN character. I always have to use the ampersand lt;
instead.

Is it possible to correct this behaviour, so it is possible to use such characters in a post?

Copy Past test in Firefox 10ESR:
Not Encoded:

<Users and Groups/Administrative user roles>
<Add>
Select Administrator
Search for e-mail address

The wysiwyg editor should be converting from > to > for you. What browser are you using?

Sorry my post is wrong. I mean the SMALLER character. &lt . The GREATER is working.

e.g.

Not encoded:<hello>

Encoded: <hello>

I'm using for this Internet Explorer 8. But I could test on FF10ESR and Chrome 22.

I now did exactly the same what I did in my other post:
See question. First with Lesser char NOT encoded and second with encoding.
