Jazz server: Warm-backup & Fault Tolerance

Tarik Mlahi (178) | asked Oct 23 '08, 5:53 p.m.
Hi,

I have few questions about Jazz repository :

Q1: Which kinds of storage are supported?
Shared filesystem ? or Cluster DB ?

Q2: Can you perform warm-backup ?

Q3: Have the tool the own profiling features independent from the network environment?

Q4: Which are the Fault Tolerance techniques ?

Thanks

The persistent data for a Jazz based application is all stored in the
DB. DB2 allows for building a clustered DB setup, but I don't know if
Jazz has been tested against a clustered DB2 install. If you have a
clustered DB2 install around and would like to comment on the
performance with Jazz/RTC it would be welcome.

Q2: Can you perform warm-backup ?

Since all data is stored in the DB, you can perform a warm backup if
your DB allows for an online backup. DB2 allows for an online backup
and we use that to backup the data on jazz.net regularly.

Q3: Have the tool the own profiling features independent from the
network environment?

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. Could you describe a
problem you are trying to solve and maybe I can give you a suggestion.

Q4: Which are the Fault Tolerance techniques ?

For now, Jazz/RTC can be run on a single application server, and the
data is stored in a DB. In the future versions of Jazz/RTC there will
be an increased focus on reliability and scalability.

Thanks
