RTC 4 reporting: question on backup

John Smith (3858) | asked Sep 18 '12, 4:31 a.m.

Hello,

The following IC page explains what should be backuped up for RRDI.

http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0/topic/com.ibm.rational.rrdi.admin.doc/topics/t_back_up_before_upgrade_v10.html

My questions are:

1. When using BIRT, what should be backed up?

2. What kind of information will be lost if there is no back up of data warehouse database and create a   new database  for data warehouse when the database is corrupted?  (Will all histrical data be gone?)

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Historical snapshots would be lost! So you lose info like trends etc.

BIRT --> CCM and JTS backup should be okay.

Hi TM,

Thank you very much for the answer. Just I would like to comfirm. Even there are customized BIRT report templates, should CCM and JTS backup be enough?

Thanks, John,

My understanding is that if you take snapshots then it goes datawarehouse DB (DW) and this also needs to be backed up. So no harm in backing up your DW DB.
