Resolution date calculation

We have customized the defect workflow. We've added a new state (which is verified). Defects go from new to in progress, from in progress to resolved (fixed/works for me/works as designed, duplicated, etc.). Finally, testers will verify the defect and will change it from resolved to verified.
There is a resolution date, which is calculated when the defect is changed to resolved.
I would like to know if there is a chance to change that, so that the defect's resolution date is calculated when the defects is verified.

You can move the resolved state out of closed state group and keep it in the "In Progress" state group itself.
And keep the Verified in the closed state group.
I have seen couple of project areas doing this.
