Migrating to RTCz

Michael Baylis (1832719) | asked Sep 15 '08, 5:53 a.m.
Hi,
We have been running a Jazz server on our little linux (Ubunutu) box on our desks for a while, but now we feel it is time to "productionise" it. The obvious way forward would to be to get DS in Hursley to provide a server for us, but it most likely by on a AIX box.

Being CICS TS System Test we are Mainframe peps, so we thought it would help you guys in Jazz if we would run our RTC server using RTCz. However, we have a couple of questions:-

1) 1.0.1 is due for release soon and as the vast majority of the code is java what will be the delay in releasing 1.0.1 beta RTCz?
2) Do you have anyone running RTCz in anger? or will we be the first, not that we mind.
3) Is there any migration docs specific for RTCl to RTCz? The one problem that comes to mind is the url is going to change for the server....

cheers,

Michael Baylis

You will be our first RTCz user.
There is no specific docs for RTCl to RTCz migration, you'll have to do a
"repotools export" on linux, install the RTCz server, run a repotools import
of your linux repository on z, start the RTCz server and of course change
the url of your repository connection in your RTC client.

Cheers.

Michael,

Thanks for trying out RTCz. Our current plans (subject to change) are to
make a 1.0.1 based RTCz server available some time after the base RTC
1.0.1 ships. Can't give out concrete dates, unfortunately.

Are we talking of weeks or months?

See https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/z1.0.1 and

Note that RTCz allows you to install the Jazz Team Server on z/OS or on
Linux on System z.

Due to my time constraints I'm not going to able to move to z/os anytime soon.
