Dependencies / Depends on - any changes ?
I have read a number of forum entries that basically state the the Depends On (Link in a Work Item) is a Logical block - and offers no workflow / real constraints (ie, cannot close Work Item A if Work Item B is not Closed )...
Has this changed in JazzHub Beta 2 (RTC 4) ? |

As far as I know this is still the case, I can't find any operational behavior on work item save for this, but it would be possible to write an extension (Advisor) that checks specific conditions e.g. at a state change and prevents saving.
https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/RTCSDK20_ProcessPreConditionExample shows how that would be done. https://jazz.net/library/article/1000 shows more details. https://rsjazz.wordpress.com/2012/07/31/rtc-update-parent-duration-estimation-and-effort-participant/ shows additional links for information and how to follow relationships (parent child, but all that changes is the tape for blocks). I should not have said easy, I guess. If you never did it it is a major effort. So I edited my answer. |
