Currently running v7.1, planning to upgrade to v7.5.

What is the best way to migrate the v7.1 asset?

In general there isn't any need to. Currently assets at 7.1 are still valid and compatible at 7.5 (Please don't use 7.5! Use 7.5.1.1. 7.5 is ancient).

Review processes have changed, but 7.1 review processes are called legacy review processes but they still work at 7.5.1.1. New processes are lifecycles which provide for a much greater fine tuning on the review process.

ok. 7.5.1.1 it is then. we have no problem to use the new lifecycle.

Not sure if you have answered my question, so how would you suggest us to move/migrate our assets in 7.1 to v7.5.1.1?

It's automatic. You install 7.5.1.1 on top of 7.1 using IM and Server Setup and migration will be done for you. Just take a copy of the database and the persist area first in case there is a problem so that you can start over again.
