You don't indicate what version of the product or tomcat you are referring to but, in general, we update tomcat to pick up the latest security fixes in our fixpacks. If you find you need to pick up a newer tomcat between fixpacks we provide instructions for how to download a newer service release of tomcat 5.x and configure it for use with the product here: https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21448666
