Premission at component level
Dear All,
We trying to minimized the number of component because of manageability issues and keeping as simple as possible but at the same time it is possible an Business Analyst can access the code and make some change set. which should not be the right. Case 1: I have one stream with two components, can we restricted the different member to access and view the files at component level Case 2: I have a single stream and a single component and i don't want to show the same sub folder to all members. some folder to few and some to all. Is there any possibility to handle this situation. Many thanks in advance for your help Regards, Junaid |

You want to go to the project area that owns the component and set access permissions on it. You can also assign the business analyst a role that doesn't allow change set delivery. Set this in the process customization tab of the project area. Even though the person can still create change sets, the role will restrict delivery to the stream and essentially keep those changes isolated from everybody else. There are some videos in the library that can provide more detail about permissions: https://jazz.net/library/video/106 https://jazz.net/library/video/54 |

For Case 1: yes.
For Case 2, not in 3.0.1, but there is ongoing work that would make this be yes for 3.5. In particular, for Case 1, access control to the files in a component is determined by the project area that "owns" that component. So you would assign those two components to different project areas, and adjust the access control lists of those project areas to meet your needs. For Case 2, the work item you'll want to track is 169819. Cheers, Geoff On 10/17/2011 7:23 AM, junaidurrehman wrote: Dear All, |
