[closed] Problems creating work items specified by a template

Hi,
I am currently experiencing a problem when trying to create work items specified by a template. Let me give you some details on the configuration first:

Workitem Name: Defect
ID: defect
Category: com.ibm.team.workitem.workItemType
Aliases: bug
>> This category has specific required attributes (e.g. Phase detected, which is a custom attribute)

Workitem Name: Task
ID: com.ibm.gbs.workitem.workItemType.action
Category. com.ibm.gbs.workitem.workItemType.action
Aliases: work item, workitem, item
>> This category has specific required attributes (e.g. Phase detected IS NOT required here)

When I try to create a plan using a workitem template, I get the error: "Cannot create work items specified by template. 'Save Work Item' failed. Preconditions have not been met: The 'Phase Detected' attribute needs to be set".

It seems like it is trying to create tasks but using the required fields defined for the defect's category. I confirmed that by removing the Phase Detected attribute from that category.
What should I do to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance,
--Claudia

I will close this question as it is 9 years old. The operation fails because required properties are not set. The likely reason is the auto save selected. Deselect auto save, specify the required attributes and then save.

Hi Claudia

Just to clarify your old question (is it still valid?). I understand that your template includes several tasks and several defects. Do all the defects included in your template the atribute Phase Detected set?

Can you upload your template as XML file? Make sure to use the Define Attribute Variables page to define the Filed Against and Planned For attributes as template variables.
