Plan showing all work items owned by team members
Hello everybody,
in our RTC project area, we have multiple development teams and one documentation team. For each development team we have one doc team member assigned to do their documentation. But doc team also have internal tasks, such as overall documentation structure and so on. For work items not related to a development topic, we have a work item category called Documentation. However, development-related documentation tasks are filed against categories related to the respective development teams. What we would like to have is a plan for the doc team showing not only what is filed against Documentation but also the team members' work items filed against their development teams. Is there any way to achieve this? It would already help us a lot if we could get all personal progress and load bars for each team member (as shown in the My Work view in the eclipse client) in one place. Any ideas? Thanks a lot! |

The main thing you need to do is to align your category structure with
its primary purpose, which is to automate the association of a work item with the right team. So in particular, it is better to file development-related documentation tasks against categories for documentation, not for categories for the development teams. In general, you will want to try to minimize the number of distinct plans being used to define the workload of a single individual. In cases where this cannot be avoided, you will need to tell RTC what percentage of that person's time will be allocated to a given plan, so that their load WRT that plan can be calculated.
