Ask a question

why can't test completes be > test attempts in sched?

Amy Hieter (622) | asked Jul 07 '11, 4:44 p.m.
I am creating a test execution schedule for a test plan. Perhaps I am misunderstanding what is meant by attempts & completes in the plan details. I am assuming that each "row" is a delta add of attempts and completes.

I have created a set of weekly rows in the test execution schedule. Early on, I would expect more ER points to be attempted than completed. But in later weeks, I would expect that only a few additional ER points to be attempted but more ER points to be completed. For instance, ER points that were attempted last week, might be completed this week. However, I am unable to enter in a given week more completes than attempts.

Is there something I am doing wrong? Perhaps I am misunderstanding how the test schedule is supposed to be used? For example, for a given testplan I have a 12 test schedules (one for each week) and within each test schedule I have only one row with points attempted and completed.

thanks!

The Test schedules are meant to define Test cycles (Iterations or Milestones). Each Test Cycle should have it's planned start date and end date. Then there could be actual start and end date which may deviate from planned date. This is to reflect how test cycles are being executed as per plan.

There is a column points column which shows total points Attempted. This is not a calculated value but manually entered value from the next column icon.
