Accidentially deleted a work item through RTC Rest API

Hello,

I accidentally delete an existing work item from our RTC. I am working on getting out some information via the REST API offered by RTC.

Is it possible to delete a work item with the following request:
DELETE https://<host>:<port>jazz/resource/itemName/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/<item>

I thought that deleting is not really possible and i would be surprised if that is the case.

Unfortunately i cannot load the work item anymore.

We use RTC 2.x Version, not sure on the exact version number.
