diff between ant toolkit teamFetch and scm load command?

Are there any differences between the ant toolkit 'teamFetch' and the scm command line 'load' operations? I am particularly interested in knowing if there is a difference between fetching and loading into a directory populated by a previous fetch or load which I was told would reduce download times by only downloading changes. The teamFetch approach seems to sometimes miss a file deletion change so I was wondering if scm load would be better. Any clarity on the differences between teamFetch and scm load would be much appreciated.

it's a pity, that nobody answered the above question, since I have the same question.

The teamfetch task does not support symbolic links, wherefore I would like to use scm load.

scm load seems to allow specifying a subset of the component by suffixing with remote path.  I see no way to do this with teamFetch - with that it's the whole component or nothing.  (sorry - this is not an answer, but a related issue.)
