Creation of a Quality Management Task

Inside of the Quality Management Project Area, an admin can select Manage this Project Area. One of the tabs on the resulting page is Work Items. The admin can edit the two work items created by default in the project area, which are Task-Review and Task-Authoring. The admin can also add a new work item to this list. If the admin adds a new work item, where is this work item accessible, because selecting Create Work Item automatically takes the user to change management? Inside of change managmeent, the user cannot select any work item types created in quality management.

Please try the following:

- Click the Overview tab in the project editor for the QM project
- Scroll to Associations section at the bottom of the page
- In the "Uses" list find the "Defects" association (first column)
- Click the name of the project area (second column)
- Click the Work Items tab
- Add the new work item type
- Now back in QM open the Defects menu and select 'Home' or 'Create'
- You should be able to create work items of the new type from QM

Paul M.,

I think Paul T's question was misinterpreted because I am having the same problem he was having.  Basically the problem is this.

There are 2 separate places that work items can be created:  QM Application Admin and CCM Application Admin.  An example of the out-of-the-box work item for QM is Task-Review, and for CCM is Defect.

From what I can tell, the only way to create QM work items is by initiating a formal review for an artifact (e.g. Test Plan), even though it allows you the ability to create more work items in the Application Admin.  The question now is if I add a new work item of type 'Unit of Work Sign-Off' to the QM Application Admin Work Items section, how do I create a work item of this new type?
