I have not heard of any BF customers integrating with SAP SM, but if there is a command-line utility, it just needs to be called from adaptors or steps.

If there is no command-line utility, but there is an API, you could use the API to create programs that could be called. This might be the most flexible situation as you wouldn't be limited by the capabilities of the command-line, but also the more complicated to manage.
