note on beta3 installation experience
Hi,
Please consider the following;
In the beta3 release, the (standard) server install is no longer available as a tar/zip package. This means you either have to use the "remote" installation manager each time, forcing multiple downloads each time OR use the "local" installation manager, which is a 1.2GB zip file which needs another 1.2GB to unpack and another 1.2GB to install (if DB2 is used). For reference, the M6a server tar/zip is only 170MB. All-in-all it took me a couple of hours to upgrade to beta3 while upgrading to previous milestone releases took 30 minutes max. Part of this is due to the usage of DB2 instead of Derby in the standard version.
In my opinion, this is not an improvement in installation experience.
regards
Daan.
