Recent question that I was asked. Answered by Paul M.
delivered a pilot project with a solution combining Synergy, Change and BuildForge installed with MySql

we now have to reinstall BuildForge on Oracle.

We are very interested with all information related to:

- the installation
pre-requisites
what should be already configured (system tables ?) in Oracle before the installation

versions
which version is compatible with which OS

documentation

- the migration from BF on MySql to BF on Oracle

do you have any experience, tips, workload evaluation , ...

For the documentation, you can find the latest here:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/bldforge/v7r1m2/index.jsp

This will have the information that is required to perform the installation.

Here is the link to Oracle specifically:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/bldforge/v7r1m2/topic/com.ibm.rational.buildforge.doc/topics/preinst_db_oracle__top.html

I am not sure what you are looking for when you are asking about which versions are compatible with which OS. Version of what? Build Forge? Oracle?
Here is a link to the documentation that references the OS versions of this release of Build Forge (7.1.2.x) IBM supports.
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/bldforge/v7r1m2/topic/com.ibm.rational.buildforge.doc/topics/reqs_console.html

The necessary steps should be in this infocenter (see the first link).

As far as migrating from one vendor database to a different vendor database for Build Forge, we don't have any tools built for that activity. The actions that I would take is to export all the projects from the existing console (running MySQL) to the xml format that Build Forge supports. Then, import these projects into the new console (running Oracle). There may well be some items that are not captured by this process and so there will likely be some cleanup effort to fix what was not transferred in export/import process. If you want additional details on what all might be missed by the export/import effort, I would suggest talking to Support for that information. While some of this can probably be automated with some shell scripting and for loops, I do not have a good estimate on how long this will take. I don't know how many projects have been created nor how long each one will take. Likewise, I have not performed a similar activity to know what to suggest tips on how to do this, amount of effort, and so forth. It will also likely be necessary to re-enter the configuration/customization that was created to interface with Synergy/Change. However, I would think that the hard part has been done and now this is a relatively easy effort to configure the second console to have the same integration. I don't know of any way to transfer the history from one database to the other.

As to what the customer should be responsible for and what will be done by the IBM team, that, of course, depends on what the customer want to pay to have done. :) I would say that at a minimum, the customer should be responsible for the database configuration. The process of exporting and importing projects is relatively repetitive and should not require much expertise. The customer may prefer to have IBM reconfigure the integration with Synergy and Change and to validate that is working correctly. Again, it comes down to what are they willing to pay for, or what does IBM feel is necessary to secure their business.
