RTC 3.0 Database Backup

We are currently investigating Backup strategies for RTC 3.0. Our JTS and CCM dbs are stored on the same SQL Server. I would like to know if anyone is using the repotools import/export functionality for backups, and whether they have been successful in restoring the dbs. It is my understanding that the repotools import/export is designed for db migration, but it appears there are some people using it as part of the backup process.
