Not able to browse asset details anonymously

Tim Munson (46111) | asked Jan 31 '11, 3:41 p.m.
Running 7.5.0.1 with an enterprise license and two floating licenses. Have set up a role to allow for anonymous searching and viewing details. Anonymous search works, but if I hover over an asset, I get "More information is not available" and am forced to log in if I select to view the asset details.

Per page 10 of the License presentation available here - http://jazz.net/library/presentation/513 - I would expect that I can view details anonymously without being required to log in.

Q: What can an anonymous user do?
- An unauthenticated user (Anonymous) can search for public assets without consuming a license
- To view asset details or perform other asset functions like update, review, comment or download, you must have a Publisher or Collaborator License.
NOTE! browsing asset details without a login (anonymously) will consume an available floating license
- Anonymous access is available using the Web Client and Eclipse Client.

Hi,

Did you wait for all of the indexing to finish? It takes at least a
minute after a role change for all of the indexing to occur. The more
assets there are in the community the longer it will take.

We did wait for the indexing to finish after adding the role and I just checked again a few minutes ago and still no luck. The role is set for only search and viewing details and we've applied the role to the "All users" user. We can search anonymously just fine, but hovering and viewing details forces a log in.

Thanks.

I tried to reproduce this problem, but was unable to do so. Did you scope the role? The scopes are located under the roles tab at the bottom of the page. If so, you may be unable to view some assets anonymously.

We did not scope the role.

We created a new Role - Asset browser - with the Search assets and Read asset details checked. Nothing else was modified. Then we applied the Asset browser role to the All Users user.

It did work with the trial license, but once we applied the enterprise license and cleared the cache and cookies and restared the browser, it no longer worked.

Hi,

We just found out yesterday that there is a bug that for preview a
consumer license is checked out. We are fixing that for 7502 to not
check out a license.

Do you have any Consumer or publisher floating licenses or token
licenses installed? Or do you have only Assigned User licenses?

If you have no consumer or publisher floating or token licenses then
anonymous would not be able to show the hover. You would need to login
and get the assigned license checked out for that user, and then hover
would work.

With the trial license you have unlimited floating licenses.

Thanks, Rich.

We do have two enterprise edition collaborator floating licenses. The problem is with anonymously viewing details/hover, not with search. I can get search results anonymously, just can't get the details.

I'm not sure I completely understand that the fix in 7502 fixes this or not given that we have two enterprise collaborator floating licenses.

Also - is there a date when 7502 will be released?

Thanks for the help.

The bug was that when it went to get and display the hover information
it accidentally required a collaborator license. If both of your
licenses are checked out to someone else then this new Anonymous user
can't get it and you would get no more information available.

7502 is in a couple of months. I don't know the exact availability date.

I'm not sure the bug as defined solves our problem. I checked the license mgmt page and we have zero collaborator licenses in use, but our anonymous users still can't view the details. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but based on the bug description, it only applies if all the licenses are in use, and I'm seeing the bug even when zero licenses are in use.
