Duplicated by/Duplicate of

Behavior:
-Moving a workitem in Submitted state that has a duplicate attached(in Assigned state) to Assigned state brings the workitem back to Submitted state.
-Reassigning (brings the work item to Assigned state) the work item brings the duplicate back to submitted state.

There could be more scenarios. Can someone please describe how duplicated by/duplicate of workflow works in the default workflow?

Appreciate any help!

If one work item, X, is marked as a duplicate of another work item, Y,
then changes to the state of X have no effect on the state of Y, and
changes to the state of Y have no effect on the state of X.

The only thing you will notice is that when the state of X is changed,
there will no longer be a "duplicated by" relation between Y and X (but
the state of Y is unaffected).

Cheers,
Geoff
