How to set Filed Against to Unassigned by default

Currently "Filed Against" is defaulting to the first category in the category list when creating a new work item. I need it to default to "unassigned" but can't find any place to do that. I have already removed "Filed Against" from the list of required fields, so defaulting to unassigned will work once I know how.

Mike,

please see http://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14827.

Did you know you can search the forums? Sometimes it produces too many hits but often there are other similar posts already answered if you give it a try.

Thanks,

Ralph

Yes, I am aware that I can search forums...

The post you refer to does not answer my question. I neglected to mention in the first post that we are on 2.0.0.2 i5, not 3.0.

I am familiar with setting defaults for other types and attributes, but Category does not appear to be covered by the same process, at least not in 2.0, unless I am missing something.

Hi Mike,

no insult intended. To keep version capabilities apart is getting tougher.
I am not aware of a way to do that you want in the UI. However there where value providers in 2.0 albeit well hidden. I found this article with links to the wiki: http://jazz.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9024

Maybe using value providers https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/AttributeValueProviders, at least implementing the default value, might be a solution. I have never done that myself so I can only try to provide pointers to where to look in this case.
