Versioning assets in RAM

I'm entering this question on behalf of Veronica Llona:

I need to know if Rational Asset Manager version the assets itself or it is mandatory to integrate the tool with Rational ClearCase in order to get the version control of the assets.

Thanks,

Hi,

There is no "version control" in RAM. An asset is assigned a version,
but that is done entirely manually. There is no automatic control of the
asset version.

It is also not an SCM. This means that there is only one copy of the
asset. If the version is changed on an asset the asset is saved with the
new version. The old asset is lost since it is actually a change of the
asset that is no different then the change of any other part of the
asset, like the description.

So, I'm not sure what you mean by version control.
