Reactivating an Invalidated Work Item

Elliott Shevin (111) | asked Oct 21 '10, 11:02 a.m.
I found I set a work item status to Invalid in error. Now I'd like to reactivate it, but the status dropdown list doesn't offer any option except Invalid.

What now?

Thanks.

Is "Invalid" one of the states of the work item (like "New", "In
Progress", or "Resolved")? Or is it one of the possible resolutions
(like "Fixed" or "Won't Fix")?

If "Invalid" is one of the possible resolutions, you probably have to
reopen the work item and then re-resolve it with the correct resolution.
(In the work flows that I am familiar with, the resolution can only be
set when the work item is resolved. It can't be changed without
reopening the work item. Reopening a work item and then immediately
resolving it with a different resolution is something that I do from
time to time.)

If "Invalid" is a work item state, then you need to edit the work flow
in your project's process configuration, creating a new transition from
"Invalid" to some other state.
