Problem with Notes 8 instant messaging.
Hello,
I followed the descriptions to set up Notes 8 to be used as IM
application. I did edit the plugin_customization.ini and copy the three
plugins from sametime 7.5.1 (com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.brokerbridge,
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.brokerbridge.constants,
com.ibm.micro)
But, there is one difference in my setup compared to the instructions:
the instructions states that the plugins should be copied to
NOTES_HOME\framework\rcp\plugins
where in my installation the right place seems to be
NOTES_HOME\framework\rcp\eclipse\plugins or
NOTES_HOME\framework\shared\eclipse\plugins (where the Sametime features
reside)
do I have a wrong notes installation?
Anyway, where ever I put the plugins, they just don't get loaded.
Any ideas how I could solve this?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Hi Michael,
The path is wrong in the setup instructions. It should be
NOTES_HOME\Data\workspace\applications\eclipse\plugins.
I've updated the RTC setup guide.

Hi Tobias,
thanks for looking into this. Unfortunately, the plug-ins still don't
get loaded, no matter where I put them, and, even worse, I don't know
how to make Notes more verbose about what it doesn't like.
Maybe you have an idea?

Michael

Hi Michael,
Could you check under File > Application > Application Management
whether the the NOTES_HOME\Data\workspace\applications\eclipse directory
is listed as product extension? If not, does adding the attached file to
this directory help after restart?

Hi Tobias,
yes I do have this install location listed and the same
..eclipseextension file. I even tried the following:
Copied the
com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.brokerbridge.feature_7.5.1.20070416
feature from my samtime installation into
NOTES_HOME\Data\workspace\applications\eclipse\features, copied the
plugin mentioned therein
(com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.jsthelper_7.5.1.20070416.jar) to the
plugins and edited manually
NOTES_HOME\data\workspace\.config\org.eclipse.update\platform.xml to
include the feature. After restarting Notes I see in Application
Management dialog that the Sametime Broker Bridge feature has an error
and the reason that is being shown is:
runtime.
No plug-in: "com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.brokerbridge.constants"
included at runtime.
No plug-in: "com.ibm.collaboration.realtime.jsthelper" included at runtime.

Is there a way to obtain a .log file and passing -clean and -debug

Thanks again,

Hi Michael,
Have a look at the directory NOTES_HOME\framework\eclipse\links. Does it
work if you copy the plugins to an arbitrary directory and include this
directory as it's done in rcp.link or shared.link?
AFAIK new product extensions are automatically discovered.
