Change Resolution Codes

Gonzalo Soto (961159) | asked Apr 30 '10, 9:14 a.m.
Hi guys!
As far as I know, once you get to a state and select a resolution code, there is no way to change the resolution code again within the same state, right?

So I was wondering how can I correct my resolution codes within the same state? Is that possible? Any tweak available?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

one way to do it, i could think about, would be to have a activity/state transition out and into the state. You could add that to the template, provided the right flavor of RTC.

You could also reopen and transition back to resolved.

Or you could consider writing an enhancement request if no one comes up with something you're satisfied with.

Hey Ralph, thanks for the quick response.

Actually I thought that it was not possible. But I did it manually in the process template source (xml) and worked fine!

If you take a look at the workflow table, there is no way to create an action that goes redundant into the same state. But it seems that it is possible to create it manually.

Thanks for your time Ralph!

Hi Gonzalo,

can you pls. share how you did it manually? I'm trying this as well, but it's not working...
Many thanks.

Judith

Hi Judith.  It's been a long since the last time I worked with RTC, almost 2 years now, so I am not sure if it still works in the currect version.

What I did was to add another transition state as you would do on the UI, and then open the template xml and modify the lines of that state in order reach the same state it was on the first time.  That way, you will be prompted a resolution code, but the state will be the same.  Actually what it does is to leave and re enter the state, like a loop.

Feel free to send the your xml to my email (gon.soto@gmail.com) if still have issues with it.  I might be a little bit rusty, but got memory :)

I've run into this a few times myself. The re-open/re-close approach
usually works, but it can invoke some pre-conditions that shouldn't be
needed, so I've submitted work item 113574 for this functionality.

Cheers,
Geoff
