Migrate JIRA to RTC
Hi. I have to help a client migrate from JIRA to RTC. This is a migration, JIRA has to go. After doing some investigation all I can find are two very untested / unsuited options:
1. Use the CM-Logic Jazz connect product (not sure what the cost involved here is) to connect JIRA to RTC (hopefully once the sync is done I can uncouple the product, throw away JIRA and keep all of the information in RC, though Im not counting on it)
2. JIRA export to Bugzilla (not sure how easy/reliable/complete this is) and then Bugzilla import to TRC (not sure how easy/reliable/complete this is).
Please Please Please if someone can help with any options, that would be great.
Regards.

Just did a quick google and there seems to be a few very usable XML to CSV converters out there. I'm pretty sure there is one in Eclipse or a free eclipse plug in that might do the trick also.
I'm interested to see how you figure out the data mappings and workflow. From what I see the way people use JIRA is very different to the way they will use RTC.

Ok so i looked for a free XML to CSV converter. There are a lot of google hits but sadly very few fully fledged free converters. Most are limited trial versions. I have written my own custom converter, which works on relatively small XML files that i produce from a trial JIRA i installed on my machine. I will try a full production export tonight and test the converter tomorrow.
next step... field mappings. will keep you posted.

I have used the CML sync, and it does have a bulk import capability. I've used the sync and the bulk import utility, in test, I'm now working on sorting it out for a live project. From what I've seen it can be unplugged and thrown away once the data is across.
However, you'd need to talk to CML to find out how much they would charge for the service.
Ok, im in the process of doing the migrations now. I had to edit my xml to csv converter a few times but it seems to be doing the basic work now. Im writing the custom xml mapping file at the moment. I will upload a link to the converter and the mapping files when i am done.
Thank you for the help, but I don't think paying CML is an option at this point.

no problem, I'd be really interested to see what you've done, I had a brief review of teh available XML to csv/xls convertors, and it none really hit the nail on the head.

Hi Timothy,
I am really interested in seeing what you did with the migration from JIRA to RTC? Is it possible to discuss you experiences?
