RAM with RMC, its possible?

Josué Borges (2631) | asked Apr 06 '10, 4:11 p.m.
I'm trying to integrate the RAM with RMC (Rational Method Composer) but there is an error message: "Specified URL is the connection is invalid."
To accomplish this integration'm following the steps described in the documentation:
"1. From the File menu, click File> New> Other.
2. In the New wizard, expand the Asset Management folder. Select Asset Management Repository Connection and then click Next.
3. Enter your connection information in the New asset management repository connection window:

a. Open the Rational Asset Manager Web client and click Help> Extensions in the banner.
b. In the Client Eclipse Plug In section, copy the URL for the Repository Location repository instance and paste it in the URL field.
c. Log in with your Rational Asset Manager username and password.

4. Optionally, Can you rename the connection in the Name field.
5. Click Finish to create the connection.
6. Click OK to confirm That Was the connection created successfully. The connection name is displayed in the Asset Repository view. "

In my case, the URL that I use is the http://bmibmx05:13080/ram.ws, as described in step 3.b.
This error occurs using the Rational Method Composer in an attempt to integrate with Rational Asset Manager. But if I use the Rational Asset Manager Client (Eclipse) and follow the steps described above, the error does not occur.

Does anyone know why this bug report? Someone managed to integrate the RMC with the RAM?

Hello,
I am trying to understand the steps in recreating the problem...

In Step 6 you mentioned that "The connection name is displayed in the
Asset Repository view." - then when do you see the error "Specified URL
is the connection is invalid."?

I did a quick scan here and it looks like we do not have an error
message saying "Specified URL is the connection is invalid."

Could you please mention what actions you had to take to get the
"Specified URL is the connection is invalid." error?
Best regards,
Srimanth.

Hi Srimanth,
Tks for your reply!

My problem occurs when I try to connect to the RMC with the RAM, through the following steps:
1 - Run the RMC;
2 - Click File> New>> Others
3 - Within Resources Management, select Asset Management Repository Connection;
4 - It will show a screen with fields URL, Username, Password and Name. I fill these fields and the option I click Finish. After that the message "Specified URL is the connection is invalid." is shown.

Yesterday I performed the update to version 7.5.0 RMC ifix1 7.5.0.1, but now another problem happens when trying to execute the steps I describe above.
The message of the problem is: "The client is not compatible with the server because the client is not at the latest version. You must upgrade your client using the update site on the Extension page of the Web client."

But when I try to get a new update of the RMC using Installation Manager I get the message that there is a new version available to be updated in the RMC.

Currently I'm using RAM V7.2.0.2 Construction: RAM7202-I20100315_0942
and the RMC ifix1 7.5.0.1.

Know me know what might be happening?

Thanks!

Hello,
It is a known case that RMC product does not intentionally allow a user
to update via the update site... its a product level decision. I am
thinking you would have to wait for the upcoming versions of RMC which
have a similar level RAM client.
Regards,
Srimanth.
