Delete a team area from a project area

How can a project admin delete a team area from a project area?

You cannot delete the team area, but you can "archive" it, which hides
it in most contexts (but note that currently, you cannot easily
"unarchive" it, so unless you are sure you want it gone, it is best to
just rename it to something that makes it clear you are no longer using it).

Cheers,
Geoff

I don't see any way to archive a Team (or in my case a sub-team). Can anyone give me a hint?

You can do this in the "Team Organization" view.

In the RTC Eclipse Client,

1. Click on the "Team Organization" tab (on top of the left window pane) and search for the Project with the team that you want to archive.

NOTE: If this tab is not available, right click on the project you are interested in and select "Show in Team Organization". That will put you in the general vicinity of the project in the "Team Organization" view.

2. Expand the Project that you want.

3. Right click on the team that you want to archive and select "Archive". If it is a "sub-team", right click on the "sub-team" (it will be visible under the parent team).

That should do it.

NOTE: You can also archive the project in this view.

This functionality is not available in the RTC Client for Visual Studio, at least not as of v2.0.0.2, iFix2.

Archiving project areas and team areas is also documented in the Rational Team Concert help:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v2r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.team.platform.doc/topics/t_archive_proj_team.html

I hope that helps!

If you are using web UI, you can also archive the project area from the admin portal.

1. Open the admin portal, click on "project area management" tab
2. Click on the "active project areas" link and you'll see all active project areas on the right pane
3. look for the one you'd like to archive and click on "Archive project area" action button

Hi Dancy,

You are correct, a project can be archived in the Web UI. However, there is no way to archive or delete a team using the Web UI. The RTC Help information regarding Deleting ("Archiving") teams is very explicit in saying that such an action is done using the Eclipse Client. If there is a way to do it using the Web UI, I would be interested in seeing how it is done there.

Thanks,

- Walter

It's not currently possible to archive a team area from the web ui.
