Auto numbering sequence for defects and other work items

RQM -Why it is not possible for Rational to make the numbering sequence of Defects and other items different. In RQM, auto-generation of numbers is same for Defects, Requirements, Task Quality item etc. Ideally Defects should be numbered seperately in sequence as this causes confusion in the defects meeting.

The number/id of the record is not that important. As in ClearQuest, all different record types using share the same sequence number. Because once a number is used, it won't be used again. The number is generated when you create a new item, if you cancel it, the same number won't be used again. And some records can be deleted. That's one reason that the number is not important because there is not much you can see from there.

Additionally, the type (defect, requirement, etc.) is only an attribute on the work item. This attribute can be changed.
