Controlling the width of work items on developer's taskboard

Is it possible to control the width of the work item columns in the developer's task board?
My problem is that on a 1600x1200 screen with the sidebar and preview hidden, there is still a horizontal scrollbar because the four columns do not fit.

How do i make it fit?

Today, I observed that when the contents of the screen are too wide, switching to the 'planned time'-viewmode and back to developer's taskboard actually resizes the notes on the board.
It doesn't last long, though - if I wan't it wider and close the side-bar, the task board width again exceeds the screen width. Re-showing the side-bar doesn't undo that - you have to switch between planned time and task board views again..

Any ideas?

Well.
Now, it's tracked as a defect
