Creating new workitem from Plans does not display all attributes

 Hi,

We are trying to create a new workitem from the existing plans view, while trying to edit the workitem the template does not display all the attributes. Is it possible to make sure all the attributes are displayed while creating the workitem from the plans view. Let me know in case of any queries.

Steps to reproduce

1. Under project area dashboard, Go to plans -> All plans
2. Select Plan A -> in new window choose Work break down view
3. click create new work item, for a user by clicking list icon on left of user name
4. Create a work item and enter
5. Click small down arrow next to X and select edit work iteam
6. Observe that few fields/attributes are missing and unable to save workitem if any mandatory attributes are not displayed.

Thanks,
Vinay

There are several different editor presentations that are used to edit work items in different contexts.

  1. Work Item Editor
  2. Inline Work Item Editor
  3. Lightweight Work Item Creation Dialog
  4. Plan Editor Preview
They can be customized to some extent. So you have to find out which editor is used in the plan for the work item type you are interested in. Then add the attributes that need to be shown and edited to the editor presentation.

The Work Item Editor usually has all attributes displayed. The inline Work Item Editor usually has only a subset.
Option 3 is only presented when a work item is created in certain dialogs. Option 2 or 4 are the ones you have to look at. Also note that custom attributes are only accessible in plans as column, when manually configured to be a plan attribute. Even  then not all attribute types are available.

The editing is done in the project area administration section under Work Items. Some documentation below.
