How to estimate the database resources needs?
Hello.
I am setting up vmware image with four Jazz-based products (all CALM products plus a Jazz Foundation-based product). We are required for some "other" reason to run our databases in DB2 and not Derby. Hence, I was wondering how I can minimize the hard-disk usage of DB2. As this will not be a production environment, but a demo machine I would like to find a heuristic for calculation how large a tablespace I really need. Is there any guidance available for that? If I do not do anything then a lot of space is used. The default db2 teamserver properties files allocate 250000 pages in the tablespace. The comments talk about a 4k page size and 1GB, but the online help actually tells you to create a DB with 8k pages, which takes 2GB of space. Which size do I need for which product? How can I decide what the right amount of pages I need for my demo data? Any tips and practical experience reports would be appreciated. Peter. P.S.: on a related note I was wondering how I can reduce the memory footprint of running the four apps in parallel. Would running four tomcat servers use more or less memory than installing Websphere and running all apps there? Is multi-war provisioning (https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/InstallingMultipleJazzWARs) supported with all 2.x products? Anyone experience and more detailed instructions for configuring CALM apps on one tomcat? |

Hi Peter,
with respect to the multi war provisioning. I tried that with RTC 2.0 and RQM 2.0 and it did not work. I haven't had the time to retry. I'd try again with RTC 2.0.0.2 once it is GA'd. Ralph Hello. |
