Restrict workitem summary to add special characters

 Hi All,

Our development team raised an issue creating a workitem adding the special characters in summary. The workitem creation is not allowing special characters like {} [] /\ <>, but allowing @ . , - $ %. We also found that other project areas are not having this restriction and allowing all special characters. I have verified all the pre-conditions in respective project area and could not find any condition restricting the special characters. Please let us know how to overcome the issue.

Thanks,
Vinay

Best way to restrict this behavior is with your own server side extension. Follow-up action

If you are interested in an answer, I would suggest to provide

1. Product versions
2. Clients used
3. Error messages

I just pasted {} [] /\ <>, but allowing @ . , - $ % into a work item summary and I did not have an issue saving it. My test server is on 7.0.2.

Thank you Ralph.

The RTC version is 6.0.6.1 and using the web client to create the workitems.

The error message is "Invalid value of the attribute "summary". please don't use the special characters in the WI title and make sure length is not less than 5 or more than 150 characters"

Actually, the issue occurred in one project area and in another project areas we are able to use all the special characters. I do not see much difference between two project areas with respect to template or pre-conditions.

Thanks,
Vinay

I have found the issue, some one created a validator and applied to respective project areas. removing the validator for Summary fixed the issue.

Thank you.
