How to differentiate snapshots in RTC with the same name.

KT PD (59210) | asked Jul 01 '21, 7:26 a.m.

 Hi Team,

I want to create repository workspace in RTC using snapshot through Command line. We have three snapshots with same name on different stream. How can I differentiate the particular snapshot to be loaded.

Creating different snapshots with the same name is one of drawbacks, so how to control the same.

Kindly assist

Please see: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/elm/7.0.2?topic=reference-example-scm-commands and read the section about Aliases being unique identifiers.

The RTC SCM system does not really care for the name of anything, it identifies stuff using a unique ID. So things can have the same name. There are settings that prevent this scenario for some artifact types.

If you create automation, it is your responsibility to make sure not to use the same name for different items. You have to, in order to avoid errors if the same name usage is prevented in settings as well as to avoid your automation confuses itself as described in your question.
