Dashboard plans viewlet for a single plan?

Mark Wainwright (46137) | asked Nov 20 '09, 10:42 a.m.
I have a large organization with many team areas. We also have many current plans - one for each team for the current sprint, and some release plans for the whole release.

I want to create a dashboard page that shows ONLY the progress bars ("Plans" viewlet) for the release plans which are defined at project area scope. I want to exclude the iteration progress bars. Preferably, I'd even like to just select a couple of plans that I want to see progress against. How can I do this?

Deselecting "include sub-teams" doesn't seem to exclude anything.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Mark

Hi Mark,

Disabling the scope subteams option should show only plans on the explicitly selected team/project (e.g. project level plans only if you select the project). It sounds like this is what you are after. I have filed a bug to track the issue of the setting not working:

As far as more fine grained control of the plans shown in the viewlet goes, there is no plan to provide that functionality at this time. If you feel strongly that this should be available feel free to open a work item. There is however, an unplanned work item to add a viewlet that shows details about a single plan:

Hi,
I'll just post here 'cause my question is similar to the one that fired this thread.
I've configured the "Plans" viewlet to show all the plans for our team area. But as we progress in the project, the number of plans shown is being increased rapidly.
How can I select just one of the plans for a team to be shown in the "Plans" viewlet?

Currently there is no way to select a specific plan to show in the viewlet. If I understand your issue correctly, it is that as you proceed through the project the viewlet is starting to collect plans and show all your old plans for completed iterations. If this is the case you can simply enable the "Current plans only" option in the viewlet preferences. This will cause the viewlet to show only plans for the current iteration.

If I misunderstood your use case and you actually have many current plans but want to just pick a particular one, then I think you are probably after the functionality that was requests in the second work item I mentioned above (a viewlet to show one specific plan):

Hi Adam,
I think I'm in the second case, with many current plans but wanting to pick just one of them. I'll check the work item opened for this functionality, adding comments to it if I have any great idea.
Thanks anyway!
