RTC 5.0.2: Limit Role permissions to allow edits & saves of "File Against" Catagories

Stephan Hockley (633) | asked Oct 14 '19, 1:03 p.m.
The Security Team wants a very limited role for a stakeholder to be able to create, edit, and save work items for only one catagory of work items:  Filed Against - Strategy.
In RTC 5.0.2, is there any way to create a permission or an access group for this limited scope?

Yes, this is possible.

1. Give the user a Stakeholder (or Developer) license and make them a JazzUser.
2. Remove the Save Work Item permission from the Everyone role user in the project area Permissions section.
3. Create a new team area from the project area Overview section and put the user in it with the Stakeholder role.
4. Under Categories section add a new category name at an appropriate point in the hierarchy and Save. Click under Associated Project/Team Area and associate the new team area next to the new category and Save.
5. Tick Restrict Work Item Access and Use As Default. If no one else is to use the Strategy category you could also tick Restrict Category Visibility. Save.

I think this is the most efficient way for you to achieve this.
