Description with special character field not able update

We have a work-item which a description seems to be non-functional i.e. can't see last description update (as appears in history) and can't add/change description - appears empty

It only happens to one work-item and according to history the last description had a special character '¶' which might be the root cause

Since the option to reset the Description is unavailable from the WebUI I've tried to reset it using command line CLI (WCL 4.0) with an ANSI text description update without success to enable the description field for editing. The manual update appears OK in the History tab.

Check you have any Dependency with state workflow for the attribute.

Workaround:

Export and update the work item id's by importing back into the project.
