CQTM to RQM migration: Where do Defect Records go??

Hi there,

This is with reference to the CQTM to RQM migration. I was going through the migration.cfg sheet and observe that the Defects in CQTM are not being migrated. In the file, I see only the following tags being defined:

1) <Requirements>
2) <Builds>
3) <TEST>
4) <TEST>
5) <ITERATION>
6) <CONFIGURATION>
7) <CONFIGURED>
8) <TEST>
9) <Computer>
10) <Test>

Also in <TEST> tag, I see the below info:

<mapping>
<Legacy>
<mapping>

So where is the defect record exported?

Please help.

Thanks in advance!!

Regards
Vinay

Hi avvinaykumar

I'm guessing this is because there is a brindge and a connector(in particular the connector) that can be used to import defects from CQ to RQM. I suggest you try using this. Again I'm not sure its only a guess.

If you find a solution please post it here as there may be many others doing the same.

Hi Kim

Thanks for that info. But our team intends to move away from CQTM entirely. Using the bridge/connector it will only provide a reference to the defect thats in CQ.

Can someone tell me how does this work?

Vinay

Hi Vinay,
I am exactly hanging on the same page. Even I am waiting for someone to respond. My belief is that we cannot migrate the defects to RQM entirely but we will have to retain the CQ license and integrate it with RQM but which sounds very stupid. Because when I searched other responses I found replies saying that you can query the defects in CQ via RQM, but none talks about moving defects to RQM.
Even we want to do away with CQ after purchasing RQM, but it sounds a foolish investment.

Hey all,

There is an import tool for importing defects from CQ to RQM.

from the help on :
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rqmhelp/v2r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.rational.test.qm.doc/topics/c_migration_overview.html
Migrating defect records

If you use Rational ClearQuest for defect tracking, you can use the Rational ClearQuest Import Wizard or the command line synctool to migrate the defect information into Rational Quality Manager. You must migrate the defects before migrating your Rational ClearQuest Test Manager projects.

I'm not sure exactly where you find this import wizard - I will return with more info if I find it.

Also using the bridge you can use both CQ and RQM having CQ handle the defects OR you can use the connector to sync the defect between the 2 tools. The conector can also be used to sync the tools just once and then you have your import of defects finished.

I have been given this link.

It seems the import can be done using an RTC client - so for both RTC and RQM if you install an RTC client to access that jazz server you can import your defects from clearquest using the method described here:

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v2r0m0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.team.connector.cq.doc/topics/t_using_cq_import_wizard.html
