I've tried searching @ jazz.net for information about these 2 files that are appearing under jfs- index locations in my CLM environment:

25669    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep  5 10:52 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-rdfhistory/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock
25819    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep  5 10:52 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-rdfindex/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock
25834    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep  5 10:52 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-texthistory/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock
25848    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep  5 10:52 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-texthistory/write.lock
22791    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Aug  4 08:16 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-textindex/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock
22793    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Aug  4 08:16 jts/jfs/indices/_kfRvYQ08EeGUKMJZ1cPXTw/jfs-textindex/write.lock

As a test I just did a -suspendIndexer on a sandbox rtc, now I see these files:

274571    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep 11 15:23 conf/ccm/indices/workitemindex/_VWSMgXQMEeSrqek-YlrNfw/com.ibm.team.workitem.Attachment/write.lock
274438    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep 11 15:23 conf/ccm/indices/workitemindex/_VWSMgXQMEeSrqek-YlrNfw/com.ibm.team.workitem.WorkItem/write.lock
268706    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep 11 15:23 conf/ccm/indices/workitemindex/_VWSMgXQMEeSrqek-YlrNfw/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock
266593    0 -rw-r--r--  1 wassrvr   wasadm           0 Sep  6 11:38 conf/jts/indices/_51Tn8XQEEeScC9Ixc4apgQ/jfs-rdfhistory/jfs-shutdown-sync.lock

I did a resumeIndexer but the jfs-shutdown-sync did not go away.    What is the purpose of these files and what is the significance of their presence ?

I ask because we have been setting up cold-standby fail over and got burned by some index issues.
